Interactive Audio-Reactive Table for Ploom

For a brand activation project, we designed and delivered a dedicated control system for an event table whose front panel was equipped with vertical LED bars reacting to sound in real time.

The lighting was not integrated into the tabletop itself. Instead, the entire visual effect was created on the front wall of the structure, forming a dynamic “sound wall” that translated music into light.

The LED bars functioned as a modern architectural VU meter, responding directly to the DJ’s audio signal.


Control System Architecture

The system was engineered as a low-latency embedded solution optimized for live event environments.

The incoming audio signal was analyzed in real time and converted into amplitude data. This value determined the height of each illuminated vertical LED bar.

The system included:

  • peak detection,

  • controlled decay time (fall time),

  • signal smoothing,

  • adaptive dynamic scaling.

This ensured visually clear and energetic output across varying sound levels.


Visual Logic

Each vertical LED bar represented a segment of the signal’s dynamic range. Depending on amplitude:

  • bars increased rapidly with musical transients,

  • decayed smoothly according to programmed characteristics,

  • optionally changed color based on intensity.

A high refresh rate eliminated flicker and provided a smooth, analog-like response.


Event-Ready Performance

The installation was optimized for professional event use:

  • electromagnetic interference resistance,

  • stable operation under high sound pressure levels,

  • fast system boot-up,

  • adjustable sensitivity without firmware modification.

The front panel became an active scenographic element, enhancing the DJ performance and strengthening brand presence through synchronized light and sound.


Final Result

The final installation:

  • reacts instantly to live music,

  • enhances the atmosphere of the venue,

  • integrates lighting with performance,

  • creates a strong visual focal point.

This project demonstrates how dedicated LED control systems can transform a structural element into an immersive, brand-driven audiovisual experience.
